Andreas Jakl is lecturer for Digital Healthcare at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, focusing on mobile technologies, Augmented & Virtual Reality, wearables and machine learning. In addition, he is organizing the Mobile Developer After-Work event series together with the mobility.builders community, where expert developers share their knowledge with plenty of time for networking. As Microsoft MVP for Windows Development (Most Valuable Professional) and Amazon AWS Cloud Ambassador, he is running developer trainings and publishes open source libraries for immersive technologies like Bluetooth Beacons and NFC.

Previously, he was working as Mobility Evangelist for Tieto, to bring the business partner’s vision for mobile app strategies to life. He was software architect for the Mill Workplace, providing a cloud-based PaaS dashboard including machine learning and SAP connectivity to paper mills. Other projects included the Smart Energy sector as well as customers like Microsoft.

Through founding the start-up “Mopius”, he has realized projects for customers like Nokia and kickstarted the new app idea NearSpeak, which connects the Internet of Things to voice synthesis technology. His own mobile projects include NFC interactor – the most advanced NFC tool for Windows. Earlier projects have been unique location based games such as “The Journey”, and “RealReplay”, which have won prestigious awards, were featured on TV and have been downloaded well over 3 million times.

Before, Andreas Jakl has been working at Nokia as a Technology Wizard in the Nokia HQ in Espoo, Finland, and then as Technical Developer Manager for Central East Europe, based in Vienna, Austria. He was communicating and supporting the Nokia developer offering and was consulting third party developers on their way from concept to successful deployment of their apps.

After completing his Master’s degree, he has been employed as an Assistant Professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg. He was teaching mobile development (including Qt, Java and Android) as well as interaction technology. Supervised projects have been featured in newspapers like the New York Times and technology blogs like Engadget. He participated in writing the “Qt for Symbian” book (Wiley) and created the official Symbian training materials for use in over 60 universities worldwide.

Earlier, Mr. Jakl worked on unique augmented reality games at Siemens / BenQ Mobile.
